Lacy patterns can tend to look intimidating until you realize those lacy bits are made mostly of chains! The repeating shell stitch is made of five double crochets in the same stitch. Easy.

In August my mom and I took a trip up to the North Shore for my birthday.  It has always been one of our favorite places to go and it was amazing to be able to spend a gals weekend together without kiddos.

We ate, shopped, walked, and ate some more. Of course, some of that shopping was checking out the local yarn shops.

If you are ever in Duluth, I highly recommend visiting Yarn Harbor.

Fancy yarns are usually out of my price range, but seeing as it was my birthday, I splurged on myself a bit!

When it came time to plan for Mother’s Day this year, it seemed like a perfect idea to use the yarn I bought with her to make something for her.

There are so many great fingering weight yarn options out there with a large variety of price ranges that this pattern should be doable by anyone.

The top of each shell is the 3rd dc of the 5-dc shell.

When instructed to work in a chain sp (ex. sc in ch-5 sp), work the stitch around the chain and into the space instead of trying to work into the chain. The stitch will slide along the chain and line up where it needs to be as the pattern is worked.

If you’d like to adjust the size, the starting chain should be a multiple of 12 + 8.

Gauge is not critical for this project
