Isn’t it strange how sometimes we can’t see the beauty in something until it is finished and there are no scraggly ends hanging out?

I can’t remember going back and forth on a design as much as I did with this scarf.

Do I like it? Are the stripes too thick? Are the colors good? Should I have made it in a solid color? What about this yarn choice? Is this really going to look good as a scarf?

I’m not sure how many pictures and ideas I sent to my BFF asking for her input as I couldn’t make up my mind.

Did I like it? I knew I didn’t hate it…..

It wasn’t up until that last stitch, actually that last weave of the yarn right after I sewed the two ends together that I fell in love.

Everything about the scarf just came together in that moment. Even my daughter looked at it and gave a squeal of delight as only a 5 year old can. She has seen me working on it plenty of times, but something changed with that finished piece.

It makes me think how much this reflects life. How much beauty do we miss because we can’t see past the loose ends?

Sometimes the thing we need more than anything is time. And I am not talking about more time to do all the things (like crochet, although that would be nice!) but time spent watching, waiting, and trusting.

Waiting for the peaceful calm after a storm.

Waiting for the strength that only comes through trial.

Waiting for the changes in us that only make us more thoughtful, kind, and loving.

It is so easy to give up in the middle, to declare that there will never be beauty. But waiting and trusting that something lovely will come and watching for signs of it will fill us with hope to keep going.

You may only be getting your new favorite scarf or maybe you’ll be getting a depth of character that can’t be tarnished. Either way, the end result is worth the wait and effort.

Merino Silk Cotton by Lion Brand Yarns

Really, what could go wrong with a mashup of merino, silk and cotton fibers? Lion Brand has blended these quality fibers beautifully and still made an affordable yarn!

As far as texture of the yarn, it feels most like cotton to the touch, but it has some of the springiness of wool. I haven’t worked much with silk fibers so I can’t compare the feel but I am guessing the silk is what give the yarn its slight sheen.

There are only 8 colors available in this line but they all have that heathered look and are beautiful colors.

Go check out the other 5 colors.

I was surprised to see it categorized as category 1 super fine weight. Just based on the feel I would have thought it was a category 2 fine weight yarn.

Crocheting the Infinity Scarf

The scarf is worked back and forth in short rows and then sewn together at the end to make a circle.

Although the stitches look like they have a lot of detail, all that texture is created from the four basic stitches: chains, single crochet, half double crochets, and double crochets.

There is a four row repeat which you will be surprised at how quickly it goes!

The scarf sits close to the neck when wrapped twice and doesn’t hang. Adding three more blocks of color will make it a bit too long so, if you do want a longer infinity scarf, add an additional 4 row repeat to each block of color which will add about 9″ in length.
