About the Textured Crochet Kitchen Towel

The textured crochet kitchen towel was designed to compliment the Textured Crochet Dishcloth. Although it uses more yarn then the dishcloth, you may be able to dig through your stash to complete this project too.

Besides the size, there is one small difference between the Textured Dishcloth and the Textured Kitchen Towel: One of the rows in the dishcloth is worked in the front loop whereas in the kitchen towel, all the stitches are worked like normal. This give a slightly less textured kitchen towel and slightly more scrubbing power to the dishcloth.

Yarn used for the Textured Kitchen Towel

The sample towel was made using  Lily’s Sugar’n Cream yarn which is a Category 4 weight, 100% cotton yarn. You’ll need just over 4 oz of the main color and less than 0.5 oz of a contrasting color.

Since the stitch pattern is the same throughout the entire towel, you can put the contrasting stripes wherever you’d like or really use up those scraps and make the whole towel with contrasting stripes. (Each strip uses about 0.17 oz of yarn.)

Don’t you love complex-looking stitches that are easy to do?

The main part of the dish towel is made with a quick 4 row repeat followed by a single crochet border around the entire towel.

The star-looking stitches are made with a modified half double crochet 3 together followed by a row of hdcs worked into the mhdc3tog. It sounds more complicated then it is and I’ve provided a photo tutorial for the most complicated steps.
