This Crochet Bear Lovey makes a sweet and cozy companion for a little one and a fun project to add to your crochet list. With its soft blanket and precious bear face, itโs just as snuggly as it is cute.

This bear was designed to coordinate with the Kitty Cat Lovey and the Bunny Lovey, and together they make the sweetest little trio. I wanted to create loveys that look beautiful in a single color and are simple enough to enjoy making, and Iโm so happy with how these designs came together.

Stitches
To make this adorable lovey, the head, ears, and arms use basic amigurumi methods. For these pieces, youโll need to know how to start with a magic circle, work single crochets, and make increases and decreases.
Youโll also use simple amigurumi assembly techniques to attach the ears to the head and secure the arms and blanket together. If youโd like help with sewing on pieces, the โHow to Sew Closed Piecesโ video by Darling Maple Designs is one of my favorite tutorials for learning this skill.
The blanket portion of the lovey uses the most advanced techniques in this pattern. Youโll need to be comfortable with half double crochets, double crochets, puff stitches, chains, and slip stitches. The blanket is worked in joined rounds, creating a hexagon shape.

Yarn
I used Made with Love The Cottony One, a worsted-weight cotton/acrylic blend. Itโs soft and tightly plied, which makes it especially easy to work withโparticularly for the amigurumi pieces of the lovey.
Most other soft worsted-weight yarns will work well for this pattern, too. While Made with Love offers 17 beautiful color options, you may find that another yarn line provides even more choices or makes it easier to match a specific color palette or nursery dรฉcor.

Skill Level
This isnโt a beginner pattern, and I wouldnโt necessarily describe it as easyโmainly because the blanket portion uses several different stitches and techniques.
If youโre unsure whether itโs the right fit for your skill level but already know basic amigurumi skills, try starting with the blanket and see how it feels. Once you get the rhythm of the blanket rounds, they become quite manageable.

Assembly
Ears
Sew the ear directly across from each other spanning round 4-10 or wherever they look best to you.
Arms
Position the arms directly across from each other on the bottom of the head and in line with the ears. Sew the arms to the head.
Blanket
Attach the blanket to the head between the arms.
Facial Features
The facial features are created using basic straight embroidery stitches with either embroidery floss or yarn. To get thicker facial features, go over each section multiple times.
Nose and Mouth
Find the center-most stitch, lined up with the ears, between Rounds 12 and 13. That will be the center of the nose.
From there, work one stitch straight down to make the mouth line.
To work the nose, start one stitch to the side of the center stitch and work the yarn one stitch to the other side of the center stitch, spanning 3 stitches. Work over these stitches at least 5 times or until the nose reaches a desired thickness.
Eyes
From each side of the nose, start each eye one round up and one stitch over spanning 3 stitches.
