Lion Brand’s Touch of Alpaca Yarn

I’ve used this yarn before in the Moss Stitch Scarf and matching ear warmer and was so pleased with those final products. The yarn is worsted weight and made up of 90% acrylic and 10% alpaca.

You my not be able to tell just by looking at it but when you touch the yarn, you can feel the natural fibers throughout. The combo of alpaca with acrylic give a warm yet durable (washable) yarn with great drape.

Crochet Stitches Used in the Fringe Scarf

At first glance you may think you’ll be working star stitches to make the scarf. And while you’d be really close, this stitch isn’t quite as full as a star stitch. (Which also means it is less of a yarn eater!)

Although it may look complicated, it is really simple and after the first row, the rest of the scarf it only a two row repeat. You’ll do one row of modified half double crochets 3 together (mhdc3tog) – don’t worry, there are pictures to walk you through it.

On the second row you’ll work 2 half double crochets into the eye of each mhdc3tog from the row below. Easy!

Alright, grab 3 skeins of Touch of Alpaca yarn (or your favorite worsted) and let’s get started!
