Scarf Stitches
The granny square motif begins with puff stitches worked in a magic circle. Then you’ll work a round of single crochets, followed by two rounds of crocheting different chain loops.
The fifth round is a combination of double crochets, chains, and puff stitches that create the square shape. To finish off the square, the last 2 rounds are single crochets.
Once you’ve made all your squares, you can use a basic whip stitch to join them. If the whip stitch isn’t your thing, you can use another joining method.
After all the squares are joined, you’ll do a quick puff stitch border to finish the scarf. I usually don’t put a border on a scarf, but I absolutely love how the puff stitches add to the scarf.

Yarn
It’s been no secret that Premier Everyday Anti-Pilling Yarn is one of my absolute favorite acrylic yarns to work with, so I was super excited to try their new Anti-Pilling Select line. And while Everyday still holds the top spot of favorites, Select is coming in strong at second place.
Currently, the yarn line has 32 different colors, and they are all so beautiful. The yarn itself is super soft, even softer than Everyday, which is already really soft. It is a 50/50 blend of acrylic and nylon, which is the main difference from its 100% acrylic predecessor.
The main reason Select didn’t overtake Everyday’s #1 spot is that it split more easily. The yarn strands aren’t as tightly plied, I’m assuming because they are a blend of acrylic and nylon. The stitches still worked up beautifully, and the fabric felt amazing, but I had to be a little more mindful while crocheting so I didn’t split the strands.

The Strawberries and Creme Scarf is based on the Delphi Granny Square pattern, which is an intermediate pattern. Special Stitches
Puff stitch: [yo, pull up a loop] 3 times (7 loops on the hook), yo, pull through all 7 loops on the hook.

Pattern Instructions
Squares
Make 32 squares in Color A and 16 squares in Color B
Begin with a Magic Circle
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st here and throughout), 8 puffs in magic circle (do not chain to close each puff), tighten to close, join with a sl st to 2nd puff. (8 puffs)
For the next round, you will not work in the first puff of Round 1, but will start in the 2nd puff and then work the last set of sts in the sl st that finished Round 1.
Round 2: Ch 1, 3 sc in each puff starting with the 2nd puff from Round 2, 3 sc in sl st, join with a sl st to beg sc. (24 sc)
Round 3: *Ch 3, skip 1, sl st, repeat from * around, join with sl st to the ending sl st of Round 2. (12 ch-3 loops)
Round 4: *(Sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-3 sp, repeat from * around, join with sl st to beg sc. (24 sc and 12 ch-3 loops)
Round 5: (Ch 2 (counts as a dc), puff, ch 3, puff, dc) in sc, {[ch 2, skip ch-3 and sc, dc in sc] 2 times, ch 2, skip ch-3 and sc, (dc, puff, ch 3, puff, dc) in sc,} 3 times, [ch 2, skip ch-3 and sc, dc in sc] 2 times, ch 2, skip ch-3 and sc, join with a sl st to beg dc. (2 dc on each side, (dc, puff, ch-3, puff, dc) in each corner)
Round 6: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, sc in puff, [(sc, ch 1, sc) in corner ch-3 sp, sc in the next 12 sts] 3 times, (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner ch-3 sp, sc in the next 10 sts, join with sl st to beg sc. (12 sc on each side, (sc, ch-1, sc) in each corner)
Round 7: Ch 1, sc in the next 3 sts, [(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-1 sp, sc in the next 14 sts] 3 times, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-1 sp, sc in the next 11 sts, join with sl st to beg sc. (14 sc on each side, (sc, ch-1, sc) in each corner) Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join the Squares
Lay out squares 3 squares wide and 16 squares long with 2 columns of Color A and one column of Color B.
Join squares using a whip stitch or another joining method with the right side of the squares facing out.
Use Color B to join the Color B squares and Color A to join the Color A squares and to join the Color B to the Color A squares.
Border
With the wrong side facing you, join Color A at the seam of the Color A and Color B squares.
Note: The border puff stitches have one less yarn over than the puff stitches used in the squares. See the special stitches section.
Ch 1, *border puff in the same st, ch 1, skip 2 sts, sl st, repeat from * around, joining Color B at the Color B Squares.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
