Stitches

The square motif starts with puff stitches worked in a magic circle. You’ll then work a round of single crochets, followed by two rounds of making different chain loops.

The fifth round is a combo of double crochets, chains, and puff stitches that start to create the square. The last 2 rounds are single crochets that finish off the square.

Although the stitches you are using are mostly basic stitches, I still rated this pattern as an intermediate skill level.

Yarn

I grabbed my favorite go-to acrylic yarn, Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Yarn, to make these squares. I love how easy Everyday yarn is to work with and how it makes the stitches stand out.

Anti-Pilling Everyday Yarn comes in a large variety of colors, so you’ll be able to find something you like whether you make solid colored granny squares, or make them colorful.

If you order directly from Premier Yarns, sign up for their reward program, where you’ll get a coupon and reward points, and I’ll get reward points.

Skill Level

The Dephi Granny Square is set at an intermediate skill level since it requires stitch placements that are just a bit beyond easy skills. Besides the written pattern, there is a photo tutorial to help with the tricky parts and the PDF version has a full stitch diagram too.
