After making the Crochet Cactus Pillow Pattern, I thought it would be fun if that pillow had a buddy. Pillows are better in sets, right?
Since I have been seeing the word “hola” everywhere, I thought it would make a great pal for the cactus. It’s such a happy word and I think a fiesta theme for the summer is perfect!
Now I want to add that adorable border to the Crochet Cactus Pillow Pattern too. I love a good border that is easy to do! The back of the Hola pillow is a little more simple than the back of the cactus pillow but I think even the back sides of the pillow go together nicely.

sc(s): single crochet(s)
sl st: slip stitch
Finished Size:
18″ x 18″
Gauge:
4 x 4 = 14 scs x 16 rows
Notes:
The crochet part of the front panel is completed before adding the cross stitch pattern.
Each single crochet has a hole at all four corners allowing you to cross stitch over the single crochet.
The finished size of the panels is a bit smaller than the pillow form but this allows it to fit snugly around the pillow.
Around the border and while joining, sc, ch 1, sc in the corner stitch.
Use the Bright Pink conservatively when cross stitching. The pattern requires the full skein!

Love it!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you!
So, when making the hola side of the pillow, you crochet from the top down? You will start crocheting the top loops of the h and l of hola and work your way down? i thought it would be worked from bottom up. Please explain. I really like this pillow! Thank You!
Hi Nancy, you can work the Hola side from the top down or bottom up. It doesn’t really matter since it is just the background. The “hola” is added by cross stitching after you have crocheted the front panel.
