Stitches
The stitches used for this striped blanket are super simple. You need to know how to chain, slip stitch, and half double crochet. Thatโs it!
This pattern of stitches is usually called the Crunch Stitch or the Even Moss Stitch. Itโs worked by alternating half double crochets with slip stitches, which makes a gorgeous and interesting texture.
If youโd like to practice the crunch stitch before starting a whole blanket, you can check out the Crunch Stitch Crochet tutorial, or you can try a smaller project first, like the Softest Crochet Washcloth.

Yarn
I used Color Theory by Lion Brand Yarns, which is a beautiful 100% Acrylic worsted-weight yarn. Color Theory comes in 18 different colors, which coordinate together gorgeously.
This yarn has so much squish, but surprisingly, it doesnโt feel super soft. Don’t get me wrong, it isnโt coarse, but it wasnโt quite as soft as I expected. I think it works really well for blanekts.
The yarn does have great drape and doesnโt split. You can probably also tell from the pictures that it has great stitch definition.

Notes
This simple blanket is made using the crunch stitch, which is worked by alternating half double crochet stitches and slip stitches.
The ch 2 (also referred to as the turning chain (tc)) at the beginning of the rows counts as a stitch.
To adjust the width of the blanket, keep the starting chain an odd number.
