Take a break from rectangular scarves with this chunky triangle scarf crochet pattern. The simple stitches set off by gorgeous puff stitches make a unique yet easy project.
Yarn to use for the Triangle Scarf
If you’ve seen the Stonehaven Chunky Scarf, then you’ve probably already read my gushing on and on about Hue and Me Yarn by Lion Brand and Alexandra Tavel.
It’s a gorgeous acrylic-wool blend that sold out so quickly after it was released. Months later, it is back in stock and I am so excited for you to try it if you haven’t had the chance already.
Wool-Ease Thick and Quick yarn is very similar to Hue and Me so it will work as a substitute if you can’t get your hands on Hue and Me but the ply is different which means it drapes differently. I think Hue and Me has a softer drape which works well with this bulky triangle scarf.
I did use Wool-Ease Thick and Quick in Fisherman for the tassels which are totally optional.

Stitches for Chunky Crochet Triangle Scarf
The majority of the chunky scarf is made up of double crochets which means two things: it’s easy and it works up quickly!
A column of easy puff stitches runs down the middle of the scarf and breaks up the repetitive double crochets.
The extra puffy puff stitches are actually 2 separate puff stitches on each side, but you don’t chain to secure the puff stitches so they join together to form a super puff.
